Norway

Join us in the Legendary Salmon Country of Norway!

n13

Norway the land of fjords and mountains, trolls and Norse legends, midnight sun and luminous summer nights and some of the best and most exciting game fishing opportunities on Earth. Atlantic salmon, arctic char, brown trout, grayling and sea-trout - all there in abundance.

Norway

We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to visit Norway and to experience the thrill of catching the BIG ONE or  relaxing by the river or lake side and enjoying the smell of summer, the view of wild flowers, the cry from a buzzard or the odd splash of a running salmon or a leaping trout .

n1

To some anglers Norway might seem a long distance away while for others it might be a pilgrimage, the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of many great anglers from all over the world who have navigated the fiords and trudged the banks since the early 19th century in pursuit of big salmon and other game fish.

11n

The journey today is swift and comfortable. Any European can leave home in the morning and by evening be fishing above the Arctic Circle – thanks to our cooperation with Scandinavian Airlines. People from further afield can fly to any major European destination and onwards to Norway in a matter of hours.

n2

Game fish in Norwegian rivers and lakes are plentiful. The productivity of the rivers and lakes is high and all anglers are welcome to share in this abundance.

The aim of Lax-a  is to guide you to a river in Norway that matches your interest and skills. We know all the destinations well and, together with our tour operators and local guides, we will help you to have a memorable vacation and fantastic fishing experience.

Norway

Our commitment is to create a first class fishing opportunity for the enthusiast while also helping the willing novice to experience the joy of landing their first fish.

We also offer special arrangements for business and incentive groups who want to experience a unique environment.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss what best suits your type of fishing!

A combination of  wilderness above the Arctic Circle,  pine covered valleys of the central region and the outstanding beauty of the fjords and mountainous western and southern regions, provides the setting for more than 400 productive salmon rivers.

Pure fresh air, crystal clear water, tranquility and space are what most people notice when they visit the remote areas of Norway. These are also what most Norwegians treasure most in life and they are proud to share them with any visitor. Enjoy unspoiled  nature far  from the hustle and bustle of mainland Europe and the world’s major cities!

Norwegian rivers are the foremost spawning ground for Atlantic salmon. The rivers of the Arctic and central regions have had huge runs of salmon in the last few years with the majority being grilse and medium size salmon. A satisfactory number of fish are also caught in the 15 to 20 kilogram range.

Travel to and from Norway

Most major European cities have airline connections with Oslo and Bergen. Stavanger and Trondheim also have international airports. International flights to Norway from other continents normally go via Copenhagen.

n10

There are ferry links from Denmark, Sweden, Great Britain, Iceland and the Faroe Islands to the ports of Bergen, Kristiansand, Larvik and Stavanger.

Visas: Scandinavian citizens enter Norway freely without a passport. Citizens  of USA, Canada, Ireland, UK, Australia and New Zealand do not require a  visa for stays of less than three months. The same is true for EU countries,  most of Latin America and most Commonwealth countries

Lax-a rod

Equipment to bring when fishing Norwegian rivers

For salmon fly fishing, double handed rods (13’ – 16’) are the norm on large and medium rivers.

Single handed rods (9’ – 11’) are suitable for smaller rivers and for fishing for other game fish in all types of rivers and lakes.

Chest waders are recommended for all river fishing and a life jacket should always be worn.

At least three matching fly lines will be needed: floating, intermediate and sinking.
Different tip lines offer the greatest flexibility and opportunity for strikes.

Rogieok

A good and varied selection of flies
and tubes are needed. Small, medium and large to suit different water levels and conditions.
