TACKLES
Useful information for anglers going to Punta Allen
Lax-á representative in Punta Allen, Nils Jörgensen recommends the following tackles and flies for your trip to Punta Allen:
Regarding tackle for PA, the best rods are fast action rods at 9 feet with a AFTM around 7. Reels really do need a good brake since the bones are so much stronger than salmon. A 8lbs bone will shoot off like and torpedo for at least 60m after it's hooked. Some fish run 150m when hooked and they are bloody fast. You can also use the lines you use on Iceland but if fishing on a boat, the line can become like soft rubber when laying on the deck in the sun. When walking on the flat the line will be cooled by the water. The water is still around 30deg. when it is warm and that is also tough on the line.
Lax-á line - fly fishing rods designed in Iceland
Lax-á is now starting a new line of rods that suit most of our fishing destinations. The rods reflect a good craftsmanship and high quality. They are actually designed by our Punta Allen specialist and very experienced angler/designer Nils Jörgensen
The rods have been tested on the icelandic rivers by experienced anglers, who give them their best recommendation. For Argentinean trout rivers we have two sizes of single hand rods. These first rods come in limited numbers so they will be a collecters item:
Lax-á 9´0" line 5/6 in 5 sections
Lax-á 9'6" line 7/8 in 5 sections
