Mahseer of India - A different fishing experience!
Travel Itinarie:
Day 1. All anglers meet at the Frankfurt airport 3 hours before departure to Bangalore/India.
Departure from Frankfurt with Lufthansa at 11:25 am. Flight is aprox 9 hours and the time diffrence is 4 and half hours. We arrive in India at aprox. 12:00 midnight. At the Airport the you will be welcomed and taken straight to the fishing lodge , the drive will take 2.5 hours so you will be late in camp.
Day 2. Breakfast at 07.00 hours and then the guides will help you tackeling up for the fishing. Fishing until lunch time 12:00 hours , lunch and afternoon siesta until 16:00 hours. Fishing the afternoon and the evening session all the way until dark that is about 19:30 hours. Dinner at 21:00 a clock.
The beach partie ! Every night after dinner you can go down to the beach and have lot of fun , all anglers put out their rods and fish in the pitch dark, we stay on the beach normally until 12:00 a clock and often this turnes in to be the greatest part of the fishing day with the biggest Mahseer cought.
Day 3 – 4 – 5 – 6 – 7 the same as day. 2.
Day 8. Fishing until the late afternoon , then you go for dinner and afterwords around 21:00 you will be driven to Bangalore to catch the flight back to Frankfurt 02:00 hours in the morning.
Facts:
Flights: Direct from Frankfurt to Bangalore / India , 9 hours flight.
2.5 hours by car to the fishing camp.
There are two camps , one wooden camp Cauvery – Bheemeswari and one tented camp which is Cauvery – Galibory. Both camps are diffrent but very comfortable good tents and cabins , all double rooms, private bathroom. Both lodges are only few yards away from the river bank so you can freely go fishing when ever you want , if you are a earlie bird you just grab your rod and go fishing as soon as you wake up in the morning.
Drinks , Local beer ( Kingfisher ..good beer ) , local Indian table wine, all common soft drinks , teas , coffies.
The food: The food is typical Indian food , lots of rice , vegetables , chicken, lamb , it is spicy but very good.

Fishing stretch , 31km.
Fish to catch is: Mahseer and several different species of carps (they grow big in India)

Mahseer size 5 to 120 pounds. ( Rear over 80 pounds ) the Mahseer species are Golden Mahseer, Silver Mahseer ( Silver yellow Tail and Green Tail ) and Black Mahseer. Ather fish are for example some species of carps such as Pink Carp and Red Carp. ( size 5 to 20 pounds)
Fly fishing tackle for Mahseer:
9 foot tarpon rod for line 10 to 11 , floating , sink tip and superfast sinking lines.
Flies , tarpon ( or and Dorado flies ) , big and bulky ... long rabbid tails .. the hooks need to be super strong Tarpon hooks.
Spinning gear, 9 to 10 food spinning rod , strong powerful reel like ambassador 7.500 to 10.000 , 30 grammes and up spinners.
Guides , one guide pr. Every two rods.
The fishing: The Mahseer fishing in India is strightly catch and release , no matter if you are fly fishing or spinning all fish have to be released. To release a fish on a spinning gear is as easy as to release a fish on a fly gear.
The river: The river have many diffrent characters , fast flowing water , rapids , big pools , slow pools , meaddows , in fact you have to be preperaed for all kind of diffrent waters. and then all the tributaries !
