Bairs lodge

Since men have fished for bonefish, Andros has been a name synonymous with the biggest fish, and South Andros has built a reputation over the years as being the location to try for a 'giant'. Names like Grassy Creek, Deep Creek, Little Creek, the Water Cays and Curley Cut Cays are intrinsically linked to sight fishing for some of the world's largest bonefish. Ideally situated midway between the South Bite and Curly Cut Cays, Bair's Lodge accesses some of the most remote flats, whilst also providing many sheltered locations irrespective of wind direction. Since the early 90's Bair's has become highly regarded as providing the best fishing South Andros has to offer. The lodge has also come to represent the bench mark in terms of quality guiding, delicious food, comfortable accommodations and courteous hospitality. Location: Located in Little Creek, South Andros. Anglers fly into Congo Town in South Andros by a 1 hour flight from Miami. The transfer from the airport to the lodge takes 20 minutes.

The Fishing Bair's Lodge fishes primarily for bonefish with occasional tarpon and permit. Other species encountered include barracuda, jacks and several types of snapper. Offshore fishing can be arranged seasonally for billfish species, wahoo, tuna, and dorado. Ideally located to access Deep Creek, Little Creek, and the famous West side and Southern Cays, the lodge enjoys some of the mostunder-fished flats in Andros. Easy access to wading flats and protected areas n the advent of bad weather. Fly Gear: Nine foot, 6 to 9 weight fly rod with 200 yards of 20 lb backing and saltwater type floating lines. 8 to 12 ft bonefish leaders with 8 to16lb test tippets. Flies: Tan and pink patterns work best. "Gotcha's" are especially effective as well as shrimp and crab patterns. Hooks size 2-8. Everything for tying flies is available at the guest house. Spinning Gear: 6 to 7 foot ultralight to medium rod with 200 yards of 6 to 10 pound line. Lures: Small jigs, pink or tan. Bring plenty because they are not available on the island.

Fishing schedule:
Can be tailored to suit angler's needs though generally speaking a typical day will start with breakfast at 7, fishing starts at 8 in the morning and ends between 4 and 5 pm. Picnic lunches and cold drinks are taken to the flats in a cooler by your guide.b Bair's Lodge is a strictly CATCH AND RELEASE fishery.

26.4.2010 : Wow, Loop has done it again!

This Evotec rod is sure to become a hit and an all time favourite! I must admit that I haven't had a better #6 rod in my hands - ever. And I've tried so many. This rod is just great at both close range and at 90 ft+. And it performs so beautifully with snake rolls and underhand casts aswell. The Opti Stillwater line is a perfect match for the 696. 22.4.2010 : LAX-A IS BOOKING RUSSIA'S TOP RANKED PONOI RIVER FOR ONLY A SINGLE WEEK IN 2010.

ONLY TWO RODS REMAIN TO JOIN ME AT THE RENOWED BREVYENi CAMP JUNE 26 - JULY 3. Here is your chance to fish the finest salmon water in the world and lodge at the famed Brevyeni Camp at the same time. Brevyeni is considered by many to be the finest of all Russian lodges and will fish only 8 rods each housed in individual charming log cabins on the banks of this great river. I fished the Brevyeni Camp in June of 2008 and can tell you straight up,it was the best fishing I have ever experienced in 25 years of chasiong the king of fish around the world. I will be back at Brevyeni once again in just a few more weeks and I am as excited about returning as I was on my first ever trip to this high tundra wilderness wonderland. You can literally fish around the clock under the midnight sun but I'm sure you will find the fishing so damn good there will be no need to bust your butt building numbers. Everyone catches lots of salmon and some big brutes in the mix to boot. The lodging is unexcelled for wilderness accomodation, the guides speak good English and are both personalble and knowledgeable. The food is great, the vodka chilled and the ambiance spellbinding. This is a fantastic opportunity to capture a dream of a lifetime. I can't wait to return. Give me a call with any questions you may have and hopefully grab one of the last two spots in 2010 on the Ponoi. Time is running out. Lots to do to get ready.
