Comments from Henrik Mortensen
In Iceland we have 13 santas
The first one to come is Stekkjastaur (Sheep worrier). In the old days he was said to drink milk straight from the sheep but it was very difficult for him since he had wooden legs.

1.885 salmon to 6 rods in 2005
Laxá í Dölum offers 26 km of productive water. The lower beats flow smoothly through a wide isolated valley and are perfect for floating lines and the riffling hitch. The upper river, however, has some narrower beats demanding a greater variety of techniques.

The Great Salmon Soup
This is a big soup with a big name, leaving no room for compromise when it is cooked. There is butter and cream and alcohol. The extra calories are compensated for, however, since the salmon and vegetables are fresh and very wholesome, not to mention the extra invigoration stemming from unspoiled nature, fresh air and a long hard day's fishing.

Marinating:
3,3 oz balsamic
2 oz red wine vinegar
10 drops chili sauce (e.g. casa fiesta hot sause)
1 – 2 teaspoon mustard seeds (not necessary but very good)
2 oz French mustard (sweet)

How to find the right fishing?
Iceland has endless option of rivers to offer and it can be hard to choose the river that fits the best.
Our anglers usually fish 6 days, starting with an afernoon fishing the first day and ending at noon the last day.
We often recommend anglers who are fishing Iceland for the first time to fish 3 days in one river and 3 days in another.
Ideal for families
Árbót beat in Laxa in Adaldal is the ideal locations for families to visit. There is only one rod allowed to fish the beat but the house that goes with the fishing has 3 twin rooms, spacious dining and sitting room and a beautiful veranda surounding the house with a hot pot and barbeque.

Simple is good - I really like the taste of that expression and very often it turns out to be solid truth when it comes to salmon fishing and salmon flies. The blue steel fly is a swimming witness of that.

Dear friends!
Soon the cold autumn wind will sweep over Europe and a long dark period will cover us for the next 4 to 6 month. For some of us this period can be like a never ending walk in the desert - Fishing rods stored away and the only thing to boost the spirit is the ginclear fishing-memories from the past season - Oh and of course some pulse-raising fantasies of heavy rod pulling trips in the season to come!
