My fishing season
Stefan Sigurdsson has been working for Lax-į for about 15 years. First as a guide and then he has been at the office, more or less for the last 8 years. Stefan is an avid angler who enjoys Icelands rivers and here he shares with us where he will be fishing this upcoming season.

This year my fishing season starts April 1st when I open Varmį river which is a very charming trout stream in about 30 min drive from Reykjavik.

Then I do not have anything booked until the second weekend of May when I will go to Scotland to fish Dee, Forest Birse for 3 days.

I intend to fish Galtalaekur for a day or two somewhere in April.
That takes us to June, I open Blanda river every year and that is one of my most favorite tour of the year. We are all very busy at the office in July and August so most of my fishing is done before and after. Well, it is not all work in July and August, I sometime take the evening session in one of our river, which is not to far from Reykjavik.
Few years back I was a camp manager of West Rangį and I fell in love with the river. So it would not surprise me if I went there for a day or two when the river opens and then again in the first part of July.

For the last few years I have taken the family fishing end of June, beguinning of July in one of our northern rivers. We used to go to Midfjardara but for the last few years we have gone to Laxį į Įsum and Vididalsį.
During the summer we go lake fishing for few days but the children are just as happy to catch a salmon or a small trout.
We had decided on taking a tour up to the Westfjords but the rivers there are getting fully booked so we will perhaps wait with that until next year.
My new favorite is the river Tungufljót and one of its many qualities is that there is fresh fish running from July until end of October. So I am expecting some quality afternoons/mornings/days by the river.
That about wraps up my plans for the summer. But my plans for huntings in the fall would be a another story.
tight lines
Stefan
