Get in line! The Laxa in Asum is a unique river, surely one of the best in the world today. It is renowed for producting the highest average number of salmon per rod/per day.
The fishing is so good that a quota is in place limiting the catch to 20 salmon per rod per day. With the river fished just 90 days each season with only two rods there is always a fresh pool available for the angler. Laxá in Ásum has many fans who come to Iceland each year solely to fish in this pearl of a river. The average catch for the past five years has been 705 salmon with the average weight of the salmon reaching 6.5 pounds.
The lodge is self catering but full service accommodation is alternatively available at the new full service Blanda lodge.

Laxá in Ásum is traditionally booked solid from beginning to end, but rods do become available from time to time. Lax-á recommends one guide per rod. Fishing season is June 30 to September.

Laxá in Ásum is a fly only river for the entire season and voluntary catch and release is widely practiced. It is perfectly suited for light single-handed rods, floating lines and very small flies.
