Find out why the trout in Galtalækur is the true monster trout
Small river - big brownies
Galtalækur is a tributary of West Rangá, runs three kilometers and has 20 pools.

Beautiful pools.
This is a small, sensitive, gin clear stream, but don’t be fooled by the diminutive size; this little gem produces some of the very biggest trout in Iceland!

Browns range from 1 to 15 + lbs. The largest 2003 tipped the scales at 17 lbs. The fast flowing pocket water and series of small waterfalls and rapids are ideally suited for upstream nymphing.
