Dear Friends
KNIGHTHOOD FOR FLYFISHERS:
You will be pleased to hear that this weekend in Reykjavik, the President of Iceland awarded the Order of the Falcon to two distinguished European salmon conservationists. They are Irish angling activist Noel Carr and Marc-Adrien Marcellier, the French director of the North Atlantic Salmon Fund.
Noel has been a key figure in Irish angling circles for many years and is a leading salmon conservationist. He is national secretary of the Federation of Irish Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers. FISSTA was a founding member of the North Atlantic Salmon Fund and for many years the organisation has been a front runner in the campaign to reform the Irish Salmon industry. Noel is a member of the Irish National Salmon Commission. He lives in Glencolmcille, near Carrick in County Donegal with his wife Frances and daughter Mary Kate.
Marc-Adrien has been one of NASF's leading workers for the last 14 years and is particularly active in liaising closely with the French authorities. A board member of the Association Internationale de Defense du Saumon Atlantique (AIDSA), Marc-Adrien is an international angler, member of the histocic London based Flyfishers’ Club who lives in Paris.
With every good wish from Iceland,
Orri Vigfśsson
