Pirį Lodge - Esteros del Iberį - Corrientes
Located in the Corrientes Province, Northeast Argentina, in the middle of the Ibera Marshlands, within 1,300,000 hectares of Natural Reserve.

This area is twice the size of the Florida Everglades.

The lodge sits right on the edge of a channel providing direct access to the marsh system and to the Corrientes River, located 15 min south of the lodge.

There is little written on Dorado fishing on the fly. This is an exciting fishing frontier.

The Dorado, (salminus maxillosus), is an aggressive fish, and once hooked makes impressive and acrobatic multiple jumps.
This complex fish can be found near confluences, on edges of eddies, riffles, sharp bends in the current, and close to overhanging carpets of water hyacinth. It can be fished in narrow runs, on skinny water, large fish have been hooked in the deep runs, so let your guide show you the multitude of ever-changing locations where you can make contact with these fish.
Current Report:
During the last 3 seasons the Iberį Marshlands and its surroundings suffered one of the most important droughts for the past 25 years. As a result there were low to very low water conditions and this affected the fishery. But this year “drought” cycle ended. We had several storms which filled the marsh and river with new and clear water. We experienced several “runs” of dorado that came from the Corrientes River, which has as well very good water conditions.

4 anglers fished the marsh last week and water and fishing conditions are very good ones. They fished marsh and river catching many Dorado. The 4 fishing days ended up with 49 dorado landed and many more hooked. As anglers probably know hooking and landing dorado is not easy. To hook a fish you need to “strip set” the hook. Dorados’ has bony mouths and sharpened teeth.
Don’t miss the opportunity to fish golden dorado at Pira Lodge! We are expecting a great season.
