Umba is unique and anglers from all over has travelled deep into the Russian Taiga to fish this fantastic river and the fishing is both intimate and dramatic – but I also believe that the close contact with the local people around the lodge has brought an extra dimension into the journey – something very special that you won't find on the other Kola rivers.
To watch life rolling through the small community of Pogorst when fishing the home pool takes you into another world - back to your grand grandfathers life when everything was more simple and not on a leach of cell phones and E – mails etc.

The romantic but also dramatic nature around Umba River is an important aspect that feeds even the highest expectation a fisherman can have – here you will find all kind of challenging water that can bring water in the mouth of the most hard core Salmon guys.

We will try to keep the program in the old Umba spirit and atmosphere and with this classic program we will try to secure this beautiful place. I hope that a lot of old Umba friends - and hopefully also new comers - will come and fish the memorable pools of Umba and Krivetz together with me next autumn!

Thanks good we will soon be back in the fantastic Umba Lodge enjoying the fireplace in the autumn evenings and fill in some nice and heavy salmon in the log book.

Umba is furthermore an ideal choice if you don’t like to travel in helicopters – the six hour bus drive from Murmanks down to Umba will give you an in sight and an interesting picture of the Kola peninsula. In some respect it is like a trip back through time and it will provide you with a special frame for your fishing trip - a quite different perspective compared with the usual helicopter fare from Murmansk to the river.

It seem that the autumn fishing attract a special kind of anglers – Maybe because this time of the year you don’t fish so hard as in the long “White Nights” during the summer period.
