UMPQUA RIVER
UMPQUA RIVER
Southwestern Oregon
Lax-a is now offering fishing on one of the most sought after Steelhead rivers in the world. This legendary fishery has probably been photographed for its sheer beauty more than any water in North America. And, beauty not withstanding, it also holds more than its fair share of hard charging Steelies. Fish on average are between 6-9 pounds. Some can top 15 pounds. Certain times of year? July, Sept., and early Oct., these fish can be taken on dry flies being skated. Fishing on the Umpqua will be wading in the designated "Fly Fishing Only" section of the North Umpqua River and float trips below that section of the North Umpqua and the main section of the Umpqua River which will still require some wading.
We practice a strict catch and release policy on all Steelhead.
The Camp lodge is situated on the lower end of the North Umpqua River near Glide, Oregon. It has full amenities with pool table, outside decks, comfortable living areas, showers and full kitchen.
Much of the water near the lodge is fishable and has the feel of private water as most anglers do not fish this water as access is extremely difficult.
Season:Feb.-March, July, Sept.-Oct.
