Fishing report from Villa Maria - 129 fish hooked!! All fresh pictures
Villa Maria lodge’s Fishing report :
Week: 26th of February to 4th of March:
This week we have welcomed a group composed of new faces and some returners from “Go Fishing Worldwide”, with his group leader David G. 6 of them were from UK, and 1 from Germany. All of them have fished a lot of places throughout the world and are good anglers.
We had a great week again. The second week in terms of numbers so far this season. We landed 97 fish over 129 fish hooked! We both caught fresh small fish ranging from 3 to 6 pounds but also some nicer ones as those big fresh silver sea run you can see in picture.
The biggest fish was caught by John, in the “hot spot” of a pool known for such big sea run, on the evening session. This huge 25 pounds fresh silver bar took a purple and black leech at the “magic hour”. The fight was just incredible, as the sea trout ran 4 times and jump a bunch of times. John was very exhausted after more than 15 mn of fight as this fish never wanted to be landed! What a great souvenir for this guest.
Luckily enough he caught also a noteworthy 23 and 20 pounders this same week but this time during day time with rubber legs nymph, and green machine!
As the water level is steadily dropping since a couple of weeks, and the water is now very clear and warm, we used mostly floating line with sink tip. We had great success with rubber legs nymphs, but also using the famous Green Machine, with intermediate, or sink tip with pretty long leader depending of the profile of pool and fish mood. This Green Machine can be used on so many different ways; every guide has their own technique and believes.
As usual the Villa Maria staff worked very hard and made their best to make our guests happy and enjoyed their trip and experience, and once again but as every week, the fine cuisine of Sebastian has been remarkably noticed and approved by every one.
We will see most of the guest of this last week to do Villa Maria as all of them enjoyed their stay for both the fishing and the great atmosphere of Villa Maria lodge. They all want to come back and get their fish of a lifetime. Fisherman always want more and bigger fish and Villa Maria is the place!

97 fish caught for 7 rods;
Average fish per rod: 2,31
The best day we landed 28 fish
Biggest fish: 25 pounds
5 fish over 20 pounds, and 11 over 15 pounds;
The average weight is 8,11 pounds;
Biggest fish of the week was caught by John who got a 25 pounder fish this week and a 23 and 20 pounder as well.
