Great brown trout fishing in Galtalækur
Galtalækur, a tributary of West Ranga, is a small, sensitive, gin clear river which produces some of the very biggest trout in Iceland where “browns” range from 1 to 15 + lbs. The largest 2003 tipped the scales at 17 lbs.
This is a two rod river which runs 3 km and have 20 beautiful pools – perfect for a day tour fishing from Reykjavik or two-three days fishing trip where you have the option of staying in a comfortable self catering lodge by the river bank. Galtalælkur is also a great combination to many of our other rivers in the area.
