An overview of our rivers in Iceland

For those of you who would like to come and fish for salmon in Iceland, but aren’t quite sure how to get started in your search for the ideal location, we have put together a short overview of our salmon rivers.

We divide our rivers into two categories, rivers that come with full service lodges and rivers that come with self catering lodges.

In the full service category we have:

West Ranga - 14 - 20 rods, large river, insane number of salmon, last years catch. 10.749 salmon.

East Ranga - 14 rods, large river, huge numbers of salmon, last years catch: 4.229 salmon.

Vididalsa - 8 rods, big salmon, medium size river, last years catch: 2019 salmon.

Blanda, beat one - 4 rods, large river, big salmon, last years catch (on beat 1): 1.800 salmon.

Laxa in Asum - 2 rods, small river, high daily catches, last years catch: 1.142 salmon.

In the self catering category we have:

 

Hvannadalsa - 3 rods, last years catch: 275 salmon.

Langadalsa - 4 rods, last years catch: 363 salmon.

Blanda beat 2 & 3 - 6 to 9 rods, last years catch: around 300.

Tungufljot (main beat) - 4 -6 rods, last years catch: 1.176 salmon.

Tungufljot (middle beat) - 4 rods, last years catch: 400 salmon.

Tannastadir - 2 rods, average yearly catches 100-200 salmon.

Brynjudalsa - 2 rods, yearly catches between 160 - 320 salmon.

11.3.2010 : 20 to 30 pounders on the way and fishing in Norway is starting soon !!!

Hard winter in Norway with lot´s of snow , that will only secure great spring fishing through June until first week in July .. so good news for us salmon fishermans. Here below is the latest openings we have on our Norwegian rivers.

Fish from 10 to 80 lbs are present all year long and very big migrating tarpons up to 160 lbs start to show up in great numbers from March onwards. Classic sight flats flyfishing combined with chances in mangroves and channels when weather or tide is wrong for flats. Always a chance.
