As most of you know Yokanga is one of the legendary rivers in Russia Kola Peninsula for big trophy salmon. Until recently this lower section of the river has not been accessible to foreign anglers.

Heavy current, big boulders, hard wading, long cast and monster salmon - this is Yokanga. Demanding salmon hunting for the experienced and fit fishermen. Our base will be a newly highly upgraded tented camp. Our camp has a communal ‘Big Tent’ for dining and socializing. The sleeping accommodation is in 6 comfortable twin tents with wooden floor and heated by electricity heaters.

There will be one guide for every 2 rods. There will be 10 rods fishing the beats and all beats will have a Jet boat to cross the river.

Pool 18 ... the mosnter Pool on the Yokanga ... this is the place where most of the 30 - 40 punders are lost or landed.

One of the two outflows of the Golden Pool , another great place for big fish.

I island below Golden and the junction , endless pockets and hot spots.

The helicopter ride from Murmansk to the Lower Yokanga Camp is 1 and 1/2 hour.
The total numbers for the beat is 10 rods. Magnus Bergh from LOOP fishes the homebeat in high water.
We called the camp the BOOT CAMP , as it was hard to fish , so we decided to take it full go all the way and we trained push up and various work out in the morning to be fit and ready for the day!

There are three motors boat to cross the river at the top of the beat and on the bottom beat , as well as one motorboat at home pool , this make the access to the bank accross much easier.
The beat is all in all 10km long , the camp is placed in the middle of the beat , so there is 5km upstream and another 5 km downs stream , this is 20km of riverbank to fish which gives each rod plentiful of fishing. Picture is of guide Alex up at the top pool , very pretty water.
Season goes from 5th June until mid August.

Guides are very hard working , they are like mountain goats , hard to keep up with them. Picture is of Hoesli and Leo with our guides , there is 6 guides provided with the 10 rods.
The Camp is tented Camp , very comfortable tents , all heated , in camp there is warm showers and sauna , this make life very comfortable after a hard day of fishing.
Yokanga tackle , 15 foot rods , lines 10/11 , floating line with fast sinking tip , we took most of the salmon on weighted German Snaelda.
Large tent for dining and spending the evenings. Food is fine , three coarse meals and eggs and bacon in the morning. Picture is of Hoesli , Tapio , Magnus , Leo and Gunnar.

One thing is for sure , you sleep so much better in this tents rather than cabins , all tents is equipped with electricitie.
This week 12 - 19th July we where 6 rods and we landed 129 salmon.
Last night in camp a little celebration with the guides.
In the helicopter , comfortable and the only way of travelling in this part of the world.
