SPECIAL OFFERS FOR ICELAND AND GREENLAND Last updated 22nd April 2009.

Lax-a hunting and shooting in Iceland at it's best

If your passion is for shooting Geese, Ducks, Seabirds or Reindeer you will know that the best of sport is to be had in Iceland, and that the beginning of the various seasons will be upon us before we know it. The value that we are now able to offer is however better than we have ever known for the international sportsman due to the weakness of the Icelandic currency. So read on and you will be amazed at what we have to offer.

Bubbi

Goose Shooting

Pink footed, Greylag and Barnacle Goose flock to Iceland in abundance and the end of the summer sees the Geese moving from the high inland areas of the country to the flatter coastal margins where they are able to feed and prepare for their long journey south. The last two weeks of September and the first week of October is when the birds are in the greatest concentration in these areas and the prime time of the season which represents some of the best and unexploited geese shooting in the world.

We have unrivaled access to dozens of prime locations from river banks to fields and the edges of lakes, enabling the guide and hunter to choose the ideal location depending on the weather and bird movements.

Our guides are the best in the business and they make sure your trip is a success. Just look at the photo below, which is not a unusual sight after a day with two guns.

It is possible to extend the trip if clients wish to do so.

Ptarmigan on the upswing

This totally wild and most popular wing shooting in the country is set for a great season.  The Icelandic institute of Natural  History has indicated that the Ptarmigan stock is on an upswing.  In 2003 and 2004 Ptarmigan shooting was banned which led to a decrease in the mortality rate for all ages apart from chicks, however last year the mortality rate of chicks reduced for the first time since the 1990‘s.

p6

Icelandic ptarmigan shooting  is shooting like no other – and back to the basics.  If you long for unspoilt wilderness and a good days thrilling walk, guided by the top in the game this is for you.

p15

The season for the Ptarmigan for November.  Whilst many keen hunter complain, this short period ensures a healthy population of birds and great sport.

Rjúpa

In early November the birds are often high in the mountains which then move lower as the winter draws in.  Even though our guides have the biggest of trademark Icelandic jeeps, hard walking is still required, and you are guaranteed to feel as though you worked for your quarry.

We are offering a minimum of 2 guns for 5 days in Iceland, Eur: 1.950.- a gun for the whole trip.

This offer is valid anytime from 1st of November to 30th  November 2009.  Only arriving Thursday and departing Monday.

Hreindýr

Reindeer Hunting in Iceland is fully booked for 2009 sorry, but we are now taking 2010 booking.

Reindeer in Greenland - an amazing offer.

Our Icelandic Reindeer stalking has already been sold out, but we think we are able to offer an even more unique experience –Greenland, where the Reindeer are known to be larger than those found in most of the other Arctic and sub-Arctic regions, both in the weight and size of their antlers..Just take a look at the photo below....

axelo

We are arranging trips for August and September which are the prime months for Greenland Reindeer.

Greenland makes sense as the flight between Iceland and Narsarsuaq in South Greenland is only 2 hours, and provides the intrepid hunter with easy access to some of the most remote hunting in the world.  To make our offer even more tempting we are offering two trophies for the price of one!

Reindeer

Hunting by land vehicle in Greenland is forbidden and therefore walking for a number of hours  is not uncommon and a trophy really does feel like a trophy.  However if it is also interesting to shoot from a boat, which gives good positioning for challenging long shots.  This is also a good solution for those who may find hunting on foot a bit too strenuous.

If you feel like bringing your fishing rod, you should!  The Arctic Char are increadible fighters and in abundance.  We are delighted to be able to offer this at no extra charge.

hreindýr 2008

The offer is for 2 guns with two trophies for the price of one for each gun!  The hunting trips will be in August and September since that is the prime time for Reindeer hunting in Greenland. Clients will be met at the International Airport Keflavik / Iceland at arrival  by our professional and well trained staff in Iceland ,  and then be taken to a Reykjavik Hotel for an overnight stay. The following day clients will fly to Narsarsuaq in Greenland where you will be welcomed by our guides, from there you will be taken by boat to camp or a Local Hotel. Hunting takes place every day with our very experienced guides from Greenland and Iceland. The accommodation and dining is of good quality, however if you would prefer a more rustic experience this can easily be catered for.

All trips departs from Iceland on Friday and arrive in Iceland on Tuesday. **

Taxidermy and specialist shooting - Your wish list in one trip

Iceland is nothing short of a mecca for the collector.  The period between September and March provides the opportunity to bag a broad range of wildfowl and sea birds that share the same shooting season. If you are coming for great range of species we recommend September to November.  If you are looking for various ducks and marine birds in their best colour and conditions then come February until mid March.

Ducks1

Last year our clients were able to add 10-12 new species to their collection in the space of one week!   hunting between 5 and 15 birds a day.  It took some planning and travel, but that’s what lax-á is here for!  Needless to say our clients were delighted with their trip.

26.4.2010 : Wow, Loop has done it again!

This Evotec rod is sure to become a hit and an all time favourite! I must admit that I haven't had a better #6 rod in my hands - ever. And I've tried so many. This rod is just great at both close range and at 90 ft+. And it performs so beautifully with snake rolls and underhand casts aswell. The Opti Stillwater line is a perfect match for the 696. 22.4.2010 : LAX-A IS BOOKING RUSSIA'S TOP RANKED PONOI RIVER FOR ONLY A SINGLE WEEK IN 2010.

ONLY TWO RODS REMAIN TO JOIN ME AT THE RENOWED BREVYENi CAMP JUNE 26 - JULY 3. Here is your chance to fish the finest salmon water in the world and lodge at the famed Brevyeni Camp at the same time. Brevyeni is considered by many to be the finest of all Russian lodges and will fish only 8 rods each housed in individual charming log cabins on the banks of this great river. I fished the Brevyeni Camp in June of 2008 and can tell you straight up,it was the best fishing I have ever experienced in 25 years of chasiong the king of fish around the world. I will be back at Brevyeni once again in just a few more weeks and I am as excited about returning as I was on my first ever trip to this high tundra wilderness wonderland. You can literally fish around the clock under the midnight sun but I'm sure you will find the fishing so damn good there will be no need to bust your butt building numbers. Everyone catches lots of salmon and some big brutes in the mix to boot. The lodging is unexcelled for wilderness accomodation, the guides speak good English and are both personalble and knowledgeable. The food is great, the vodka chilled and the ambiance spellbinding. This is a fantastic opportunity to capture a dream of a lifetime. I can't wait to return. Give me a call with any questions you may have and hopefully grab one of the last two spots in 2010 on the Ponoi. Time is running out. Lots to do to get ready.
