SPECIAL OFFERS FOR ICELAND AND GREENLAND Last updated 22nd April 2009.
Lax-a hunting and shooting in Iceland at it's best
If your passion is for shooting Geese, Ducks, Seabirds or Reindeer you will know that the best of sport is to be had in Iceland, and that the beginning of the various seasons will be upon us before we know it. The value that we are now able to offer is however better than we have ever known for the international sportsman due to the weakness of the Icelandic currency. So read on and you will be amazed at what we have to offer.

Goose Shooting
Pink footed, Greylag and Barnacle Goose flock to Iceland in abundance and the end of the summer sees the Geese moving from the high inland areas of the country to the flatter coastal margins where they are able to feed and prepare for their long journey south. The last two weeks of September and the first week of October is when the birds are in the greatest concentration in these areas and the prime time of the season which represents some of the best and unexploited geese shooting in the world.
We have unrivaled access to dozens of prime locations from river banks to fields and the edges of lakes, enabling the guide and hunter to choose the ideal location depending on the weather and bird movements.
Our guides are the best in the business and they make sure your trip is a success. Just look at the photo below, which is not a unusual sight after a day with two guns.
A picture is worth a thousand words

On the day of arrival in Iceland clients are picked up at Keflavík International Airport by their guide and driven or flown to the shooting area and lodge. It is possible to extend the trip if clients wish to do so.

Ptarmigan on the upswing
This totally wild and most popular wing shooting in the country is set for a great season. The Icelandic institute of Natural History has indicated that the Ptarmigan stock is on an upswing. In 2003 and 2004 Ptarmigan shooting was banned which led to a decrease in the mortality rate for all ages apart from chicks, however last year the mortality rate of chicks reduced for the first time since the 1990‘s.

Icelandic ptarmigan shooting is shooting like no other – and back to the basics. If you long for unspoilt wilderness and a good days thrilling walk, guided by the top in the game this is for you.

The season for the Ptarmigan for November. Whilst many keen hunter complain, this short period ensures a healthy population of birds and great sport.

In early November the birds are often high in the mountains which then move lower as the winter draws in. Even though our guides have the biggest of trademark Icelandic jeeps, hard walking is still required, and you are guaranteed to feel as though you worked for your quarry.

Reindeer in Greenland - an amazing offer.
Our Icelandic Reindeer stalking has already been sold out, but we think we are able to offer an even more unique experience –Greenland, where the Reindeer are known to be larger than those found in most of the other Arctic and sub-Arctic regions, both in the weight and size of their antlers..Just take a look at the photo below....

We are arranging trips for August and September which are the prime months for Greenland Reindeer.
Greenland makes sense as the flight between Iceland and Narsarsuaq in South Greenland is only 2 hours, and provides the intrepid hunter with easy access to some of the most remote hunting in the world. To make our offer even more tempting we are offering two trophies for the price of one!

Hunting by land vehicle in Greenland is forbidden and therefore walking for a number of hours is not uncommon and a trophy really does feel like a trophy. However if it is also interesting to shoot from a boat, which gives good positioning for challenging long shots. This is also a good solution for those who may find hunting on foot a bit too strenuous.
If you feel like bringing your fishing rod, you should! The Arctic Char are increadible fighters and in abundance. We are delighted to be able to offer this at no extra charge.

Taxidermy and specialist shooting - Your wish list in one trip
Iceland is nothing short of a mecca for the collector. The period between September and March provides the opportunity to bag a broad range of wildfowl and sea birds that share the same shooting season. If you are coming for great range of species we recommend September to November. If you are looking for various ducks and marine birds in their best colour and conditions then come February until mid March.
Last year our clients were able to add 10-12 new species to their collection in the space of one week! hunting between 5 and 15 birds a day. It took some planning and travel, but that’s what lax-á is here for! Needless to say our clients were delighted with their trip.
