Lax-á is now starting a new line of rods that suit most of our fishing destinations. The rods reflect a good craftsmanship and high quality, therefore they are covered by a 3-year warranty against poor craftsmanship

The rods are designed and developed by a very experienced angler and designer from Denmark Nils Jörgensen. The rods have been tested on the Icelandic rivers by experienced anglers, who give them their best recommendation.

The Lax-á single hand rods

Lax-á 9´0” line 5/6 – 5-sections – All-round Trout Rod

This is a rather fast fly rod with a smooth fighting curve. It’s to an advantage to have a fast rod as the wind won’t affect the cast as much and you can make narrow loops and be able to cast a distance with this rod.

The All-round Trout was brought to life during brown trout fishing in Iceland. The name All-round Trout really fits this rod. The rod will easily load a short line due to the light tip but its progressive action can really punch your fly the distance. It performs well with small dry flies to big “buggers”.

The All-round Trout is made in 5-sections making it an easy travel friend.

Lax-á 9´6” line 7/8 – 5-sections – Light Salmon

This medium/fast fly rod was designed on the banks of Miðfjardará, which is a river that can be very demanding for the angler. Gin clear water and spooky fish. Most of the fishing requires delicate presentation; therefore we designed our own rod for the job. The Light Salmon rod is a presentation rod that can deliver small hitch flies up to the big Francis monsters that are used to entice the “sleepy” salmon from the deep holes.

We also recommend trying this rod out for sea trout in the rivers and on the coast.

The Light Salmon is made in 5-sections making it an easy travel friend.

The Lax-á double-handed rods  

Lax-á 12´6” line 8/9 – 4-sections – Medium Salmon.

A very nice and light double-handed rod that is ideal for lighter fishing in low water conditions. Its range is from presentation fishing to sea trout fishing in Argentina. During construction of this rod we had a great success on the West Rangá fishing it with a 10.8-meter sink tip belly and a fast sink poly leader.

Lax-á 14´0” line 9/10 – 4-sections – Heavy Salmon.

This is the real high performance salmon tool. The rod really gets your bulky fly the distance without requiring any effort at all. Even though it’s a powerful rod it is not a stiff stick. It’s such a great rod to battle big strong salmon thanks to the deep powerful curve.

The rod was developed along the banks of East Rangá where sink tip lines/fast sink poly leaders are often used with heavy flies at the end. The Heavy Salmon generates so much energy that you won’t feel the sinking part of the line and the big fly when casting.
