Greetings from the Minister of Agriculture
Greetings from the Minister of Agriculture

Dear angler,
I’m sure that most of you are waiting impatiently for the fishing season to begin this spring. This is understandable because few emotions can compete with those invoked by the catch of a wild salmon or trout. Even though the fishing season is short at roughly three months, most anglers I know spend the entire winter preparing for the forthcoming season. I believe that Iceland has some of the best salmon and trout rivers in the world. Seeing the silvery Atlantic Salmon attacking the fly on the surface of clear water in the land of the midnight sun is certain to be an unforgettable experience.
We are very proud of our pure fishing rivers and the unspoiled landscape that surrounds them. We are glad to share this with visitors and welcome you to Iceland in the hope that you will have a wonderful stay and that the catch of magnificent wild fish will prove a lasting memory.
I wish you a safe and exciting fishing trip and hope your experience of Iceland, and especially its rivers, will inspire you to visit us again.
Mr. Gudni Agustsson,
Minister of Agriculture of Iceland
